Block 4 — Methods for Teaching New Skills

✓ By the time participants reach this block, they are already halfway through the program. They’ve learned how to identify effective reinforcers, understand that every behavior serves a purpose for the person showing it, and much more. ✓ In this block, instructors explain different teaching methods, provide the theoretical reasoning behind choosing one method over another, and, of course, give participants the opportunity to practice selecting and applying these methods at home. ✓ Participants can always reach out to instructors between sessions to get feedback on homework or any questions related to practice. ✓ Instructors introduce methods such as prompting, errorless learning, chaining, shaping, discrete trials, and more. They also share examples of when and how to combine these elements—and why it matters.
