✓ Every parent wants their child to speak—and not just to say words, but to communicate in full sentences, hold conversations, answer questions, and ask their own. ✓ Unfortunately, children with developmental delays don’t acquire language and communication the same way their typically developing peers do. ✓ Applied Behavior Analysis offers a wide range of approaches to teaching communication. Where other speech specialists may struggle, ABA professionals can design effective programs to teach and develop communication skills. ✓ In this block, parents are introduced to the basic principles of behavior analysis that explain why we speak and why sometimes we don’t. ✓ Instructors provide examples of teaching methods and guide parents in choosing the strategies that will work best for their child. ✓ Verbal behavior and communication is a broad topic, and four sessions may not be enough to address every challenge a child faces in this area. The Academy also offers a dedicated Verbal Behavior training, where participants explore the theory in greater depth and practice using multiple teaching methods.
